WOW - Congregation Report for January 2024

WOW…also known as Women of the Word…holds their monthly meeting on the third Sunday afternoon following worship service. We have a light meal followed by our meeting which lasts approximately 1 hour…husbands are invited to lunch. We begin each meeting with a short devotion and then proceed to the business at hand which is planning events for the upcoming months.

If you are a female of Immanuel Lutheran…you are automatically a member of WOW. We invite and encourage you to come to meetings and help make things happen at Immanuel.

FAITH
o The FAITH Group…sponsored by WOW…meets monthly to make our beautiful all-occasion cards. Cards are available to purchase for a small donation of $.50 each…they can be found displayed on a table in the church annex. Our cards can also be found at SPJST Assisted Living and Friends of the Bride.
o Many thanks to Nancy Werchan for sending monthly Thinking of You cards to our shut-ins. Postage for the cards that are sent out is paid for by WOW.
o We invite you to join us at our monthly meetings.

• WOW coordinates getting flowers for the Altar for Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Christmas.
• WOW hosts a monthly bake sale each first Sunday of the month.
• WOW hosts the last Sunday of the month Pot Luck meals following worship service.

2023 Activities
o Coordinated the meal provided by Thrall Diner and the Ardene Wuthrich band for the Polka Service on February 19, 2023
o Coordinated the Easter brunch on April 9, 2023
o Coordinated the 2nd Annual Hilltop Corn Hole Tournament on April 30, 2023
o Hosted church picnic on July 30, 2023
o Coordinated and purchased turkey, dressing, and gravy from Thrall Diner for Thanksgiving in Bethlehem, November 19, 2023
o Coordinated and paid for the quilting and hanging of the beautiful quilted wall art of the church in the fellowship hall that was made by Irene Schmidt
o Coordinated getting new church t-shirts
o Purchased a 14-cup coffee maker for the kitchen
o Purchased 2 round tables for the fellowship hall
o Made a financial gift of $200 to the family of Brooke Mosier, daughter of Stan and Julie Simonik
o Made a financial gift of $300 to the Laundry Love organization, also members provided monthly help at the laundromat.

o 3rd Annual Hilltop Corn Hole Tournament – April 28, 2024
