Pastor’s Report

December is an exciting month. It is the last month of the year. It is the beginning of winter. It is the time Christians celebrate Christmas. It is
also the beginning of the Church Year, the time of Advent. Advent is when we prepare for the incarnation of the Word Made Flesh that is known as the birth of Jesus. If we do not prepare for a great event we cannot fully appreciate all that it means. Advent informs and prepares our hearts and minds to this purpose. Advent consist of 4 weeks of preparation.
The First week of Advent begins our expectation in HOPE. Jesus tells us, "I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." (Jn. 14:3 ESV) Our HOPE is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and his righteousness, a great hymn that proclaims that truly all who are redeemed of God will receive a divine and eternal inheritance.
The Second Week of Advent is the defined as a time to know the PEACE of God that can be realized through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus tells us, "27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." (Jn. 14:27 ESV)
The Third Week of Advent is realized in the JOY of expectation. As Elizabeth the mother of John and Mary the mother of Jesus were filled with the blessed joy of God and the fruit of their wombs would usher in the transitional and transformational era of the Grace of God.
The Fourth Week of Advent is the message of LOVE – the plan of God is revealed through Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul exclaims, " 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Rom. 8:38-39 ESV)
Preparation is the key to any successful work and there is no other work more important than preparing our hearts to receive the Lord Jesus Christ. He himself puts the desire of God in us by the presence of His Holy Spirit and creates within us the desire for God the Father. Repentance is the preparation to faith, faith the preparation to eternal life and all this is from God who loved us and sent Jesus Christ, The Son. Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. – Advent is our time of preparation for the Lord.
